Storage Configurator

Responsibilities

As Lead Technical Designer, I architected the Closet Storage Configurator in Unreal Engine 5, focusing on modular, scalable systems built with Blueprint. By leveraging data tables for clean asset management, the configurator remained highly efficient, adaptable, and easy to expand as new products and finishes were introduced. These systems enabled dynamic customization of closet layouts, part-swapping, and finish variations while maintaining seamless performance.

To support advanced functionality, I integrated dynamic meshes for features like inset handles and built tools for real-time lighting adjustments, ensuring both design accuracy and creative flexibility. I also implemented Unreal Engine’s Movie Render Queue within a packaged project, streamlining the production of high-quality promotional assets and enabling real-time rendering directly from the application.

The experience was tied together with a UMG-driven UI, providing users with an intuitive way to interact with the configurator’s systems and visualize their designs. This balance of robust systems design, optimized workflows, and user-facing polish delivered a tool that served both consumer customization needs and internal marketing workflows effectively.
